We were thrilled and excited to be chosen as the event florist to partner with high end Japanese and Scandinavian fusion restaurant Sticks'n'Sushi to design and create flowers for their restaurants located across London.
As an established sushi restaurant with an unmistakable style and strong brand, Sticks'n'Sushi requested that we create a collection of unique floral arrangements for all restaurants in London. Their objective was to add a new design element to their space in all restaurants across London. Given that they are widely recognised for their modern, stylish interiors, Sticks'n'Sushi were seeking a florist with experience in the creation of flowers for restaurants, who could effectively convey their style in synergy with their brand with a range of florals designed in the style of Ikebana, Japanese floristry.
THE BRIEF
These restaurants present a very chic and modern style. Sticks'n'Sushi wanted flowers that would speak for themselves and effortlessly combine traditional Japanese elements with more rustic features. While in keeping with Japanese designs was one of the key things we had to consider, another was the longevity of every installation.
Our team drew inspiration from similar sushi restaurants across London. We Looked closely at their style and design. We specifically considered how true to Japanese tradition each of these designs was. Sticks'n'Sushi has always been unique in comparison due to its use of modern touches that keep it feeling current. Their stylish and elegant look was a particular design element our team were conscious not to lose during any part of the floral design process.
Ikebana Styled Flowers for Restaurants
We also looked at Ikebana: the art of Japanese floristry, which translates to "making flowers alive". We have extended the flowers' lifespan by drying out stems and using them in this art form. There is a focus on allowing the stems to be as they naturally appear, rather than manipulating or cutting the stems to make them fit within a certain shape. This style calls for 3-4 stems to create a simple yet elegant design.
The chic and modern Scandinavian style and Japanese heritage of these restaurants create the perfect "Japandi" atmosphere. A look which is currently on trend within the home and interiors space, meaning it is translating into floristry. Floristry will always follow the interior trends to add the perfect final touch to your space and ensure it matches.
Our Floral Designs for these Restaurants
When finalising 12 different vase arrangements, our team of experienced florists were also aware of drawing inspiration from a range of Ikebana and Scandi designs. Both cultures draw from the idea of "slow living", and the flower arrangements created for the restaurant capture this.
Much like other flowers for restaurants we created, we made sure to create each arrangement using naturally preserved stems including, Pussy willow, Palm Cups, Broom, and Protea.
We chose flowers with interesting forms and textures because they would be the largest part of the vase arrangement. Given that so few stems were used, we had to ensure the focal flowers were impressive and captivating.
Monthly Dried Flower Refreshes
We now offer regular flower refreshes for restaurants and other corporate clients on all blooms. Rather than needing fresh flower weekly refreshes, we offer monthly dried flower refreshes. A monthly refresh ensures every space can regularly welcome the style of new blooms.
