Sticks n Sushi

As an established sushi restaurant with a clear style, Sticks N Sushi gave us the opportunity to create a collection of unique vase arrangements to add a new design element to their space.

Having already styled their restaurants very chic and modern, Sticks N Sushi were very clear they wanted flowers that would speak for themselves and effortlessly combine traditional Japanese elements with more rustic features. While in keeping with Japanese designs was one of the key things we had to consider. Another was the longevity of every flower installation.

Our team drew inspiration from similar sushi restaurants across London. Looking closely at their style and design, our team specifically considered how true to Japanese tradition each of these designs were. Sticks N Sushi has always been rather unique in comparison, due to its use of modern touches that keep it feeling current. This was a particular design element our team were conscious not to lose during any part of the design process.

We also looked at Ikebana: the art of Japanese floristry, which translates to “making flowers alive”. By drying out stems and then reusing them in this artistic form, we have extended the flowers lifespan. There is a focus on allowing the stems to be as they would naturally appear, not manipulating or cutting the stems to make them fit within a certain shape. Usually 3-4 stems are used in a very simple and elegant design.

The chic and modern Scandinavian style and Japanese heritage of the restaurants creates the perfect “Japandi” atmostphere, which is currently on trend within the home and interiors space, meaning it is translating into floristry. Floristry will always follow the interior trends to add the perfect final touch into your space and ensure it matches.

When finalising 12 different vase arrangements, our team were also aware to draw inspiration from a range of Ikebana and Scandi designs. Both cultures draw from the idea of “slow living” and the flower arrangements created for the restaurant capture this.

Much like our other arrangements, we made sure to create each arrangement using naturally preserved stems including, Pussywillow, Palm Cups, Broom, and Protea.

We chose to use flowers that have interesting forms and textures, because they would be the largest part of the vase arrangement. Given there are so few stems used, we had to ensure the focal flowers were impressive and captivating to look at.

We cater for every type of event and client. If you’re considering using us to bring your event vision to life, then please fill out the enquiry form below.
